2022.01.19 19:18 Marsattacks69 Help with VFX shot for short film

I have a vfx shot from my short film that I really want to improve.
You can view a still here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ffo25403m3xdowy/img-20220119-wa0020.jpg?dl=0
I think we should of shot it on green and then comped out together with a clean plate. But all I have is the actress reacting and you can see the line between her hair and the ghost doesn't look great.
Does anyone have any tips on how I can improve it or clean it up or is anyone willing to tackle it?
I can send over the files.
Apologies if this is the wrong and I'll delete and move. Thank you

2022.01.19 19:18 zante2033 Just had a glottoplasty consult today...any singers about?

At the moment my default range seems to be around 160hz and the resonance is good, fully relaxed etc...
I'm not happy with it and am still undergoing voice training with a speech therapist. Progress is good...
At my glottoplasty consult today, the surgeon said something I found interesting. He tells people who are professional singers that they should expect undergoing this procedure to be the end of their career. This bugged me as, although I'm not a professional, singing is an important part of the human experience for me.
His success rate is high but I'm tempted to keep the voice training going to see how I do. I know if I have the op, I'd need to relearn everything again. Has anyone who had glottoplasty found singing to be hopeless?

2022.01.19 19:18 Not-A-Boat58 Hail Mary by Britni De La Cretaz and Lyndsey D'arcangelo

I tried searching but I can't find any discussion on here about this book. Wanted to give it a shout-out because I love it so far about halfway through. If you're someone that can geek out about football history, I can't recommend this enough.
The author's researched and told the story of the short lived National Women's Football League in the 70's/80's and goes into the longer history of women playing American football. The amount of research is absurd. They're quoting newspapers in southeast middle of nowhere Ohio from the 40's. I don't know how they dug this all up.
It's really emotional to read. Some of the stories about the players really cut into alot of what makes the game of football so great in a way you don't hear from men.
For instance, Dallas's (I think) nose tackle talking about how football made her feel like her body and her aggressive attitude had value for the first time. That isn't something I'd ever heard a male lineman express. But was incredibly relatable for me who fell in love with the game as a chubby kid that loved that there was a place for me in the game and felt like it validated me growing up.
The sacrifices they made to play for little to no money because they loved the game and desperate for the opportunity to experience it is really sad.
I had never put much thought into how this game I loved so much growing up and became a large part of my identity growing up simply isn't really available to half the population.
Also the writing is terrific. A quick excerpt from the introduction, "The league itself was a Hail Mary pass: a long shot, something with a high likelihood of failure. It's the pass you take because why the hell not, because the ball is in your hands and if you don't do it, the chance of success goes from slim to none. The Hail Mary that was the NWFL may not have been a completed pass, but for a while, as it sailed through the air toward its reciever, it looked like it had a shot."

2022.01.19 19:18 richardmalosilalahi Switching from Bachelor of Science to Commerce

Hi. I'm currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science course majoring in Computing and Software Systems. I have completed 1 semester online and I'm currently taking Linear Algebra in the summer. I have sort of realized from this point on, that maybe this course isn't for me. I really like the computing subjects, but don't really enjoy the math subjects since it doesn't really suit me and I find them too hard, especially since it was online as well which stresses me out even more. I failed Calculus 1 in Semester 2 of 2021 which was during my very first semester of university and find it hard to keep up with Linear Algebra during the summer, especially now that it's online again. There are no other majors in Science that I have an interest in, which unfortunately leads to swapping over to another course. I would like to know the process of swapping courses and the best time to do it, whether it's possible to start the new course on Semester 1 of 2022 or do I have to apply for Semester 2 of 2022. Furthermore, are credits from subjects that I have done before transferable? Thank you.

2022.01.19 19:18 EQDoctor Do you have female friends? Real ones??

I’ve been thinking about this concept a lot lately. It’s come up frequently in my every day life and has been a background theme in some of our conversations on the RPC discord.
So here’s a question for everyone:
Do you find it difficult to connect with other Christian women (or just other women in general)? If so, why?
I have to be honest with you. I find a lot of Christian women to be boring ….and if not boring, exhausting to be around.
I’m thinking some of you already know what I mean, but let me give examples.

  1. The “Who is more Christian” game. It’s when all you have to talk about is being Christian. So you talk about your struggles (but not the real ones) and humble brag about your ‘spiritual development.’ It’s really not that meaningful because no one wants to reveal too much about themselves. Exhausting.
  2. No personal interests. What do you do for fun? Ummmm idk. Sometimes I watch Netflix. Okay, cool. Boring.
  3. Conversation killers. This happens when someone asks a question and they receive a short, dead end answer. For some reason, as women, we are super good at this and it tanks friendship opportunities. We either have no imagination in a response or have no desire to keep the conversation going.
Here’s an example:
Girl 1: Hey, Carol, how are you?
Carol: I’m good.
Girl 1: That’s great, anything new happen this week?
Carol: No, not really.
This is both boring and exhausting if you’re the one asking questions.
  1. People are Flaky. I already wrote an entire post about this because it’s frustrating. You can’t be friends with someone that never wants to do anything.
Sooo what to do about this?
Here are some things I’ve been brainstorming:
  1. Don’t do the things listed above. Develop personal interests, don’t kill conversations, don’t be flaky, don’t talk Christianese.
  2. Ask abnormal questions. Think of something creative that most people wouldn’t ask. Don’t make it too uncomfortable right off, but just funny. This will help you tease out their personality a bit more. This will open the door to more meaningful and interesting conversations.
  3. Don’t over-think it. All of us think too much about how the other person will judge us. If you let some of that go, say something silly, be a little fun, that’ll relax the entire conversation.
  4. Stop complaining. I feel like we love to complain. It’s nice to talk to other women about things sometimes, but it also just brings people down. If every time you hang out with someone, you complain, they’ll stop wanting to spend time with you. If it’s the other way around, try to change up the conversation.
One of the major issues with finding female Christian friends is that most of the time all you have in common is being a Christian. Is that enough? Technically yes. Does that make you best friends? Not necessarily.
I think it’s easy for many of us to have superficial friends, but not as easy for us to have real friends.
What’s a real friend?
The friend you can just call any time of day to chat about nothing in particular. The friend that’ll spontaneously pick up a Craigslist item with you ….or will go with you to try that weird new restaurant on your day off….or that person that challenges you to be better on a genuine level. Those are harder friendships to cultivate.
For the most part, I think it has to start with us. We can’t just sit at home, with no hobbies, not respond to text messages, turn down invitations, kill conversations with one word answers, think we’re special and misunderstood….and then expect to have real friends.
So, what are your thoughts? Friendship hacks anyone?

2022.01.19 19:18 fanatic0918 I caught someone in a choke and they acted like they went out

This story just makes me so angry for some reason. We were doing a full strength roll and the first to get submitted did 20 pushups. I had someone in a triangle choke and I didn’t have it fully locked in but it was locked in enough that there would be lots of pressure. They acted like their arm went numb and started closing their eyes. I decided against trying to tighten it and put more pressure and I loosened up because they were acting like they were out. The moment I did this they exploded out of my choke. I ended up submitting them later in the round but I honestly lost any respect I had for this guy. Any thoughts if I’m overreacting or maybe do you guys think he wasn’t faking?

2022.01.19 19:18 _rosieee Is My Moms Boyfriend The Asshole? Potential red flag?

My (F19) Mother (F37) has been dating her current boyfriend (M34) let's call him Roger, for three years. They have a daughter and met through their moms.
A bit of background information. My mom and her boyfriend argue a lot. They bicker over little things but Roger tends to over react a lot and keep it going, this can be hours or he could keep bringing it up for the next couple of days. He would never decline a drink with his friends and has some form of alcohol at least 5 times a week, whether it be a wine with his cheese in the evening or a pint of beer with his friends on the weekend.
Which in my opinion is red flag number one.
Roger has the tendency to gaslight my mom, me and my sister (F13) He will guilt trip us and play the victim in arguments and disagreements. He never admits when he is wrong or apologised for his behaviour, his language or his actions.
Red flag number two.
I mentioned earlier on that Roger and my mom have a two year old daughter, he has absolutely no issue arguing and yelling at my mom and my mom yelling at him whilst she is right next to them playing with her toys or watching her favourite movies. This really irritates me and my sister as she usually has no idea what's going on and it often upsets her when they yell.
Red flag number three.
Roger as I said previously likes to gaslight and has used these 'tricks' multiple times when talking to my sister. He has made her cry multiple times and she has admitted to his face 'I cry most of the time cause you act like you hate me.' My Mom often feels the need to defend us in these situations, but later on Roger ends up making her feel bad about it and coming to talk with me me and my sister. She says things like 'if we break up your going to be why.' and 'the way you treat him is just gonna result in us splitting up.' we hear him say these things to her when they talk.
Red flag number 4.
As a parent he is supposed to provide for his kids right? That's his job as a father. But instead of seeing it as what he signed up to when he had his daughters ad got involved in our lives he sees it as leverage. He uses the things he provides us with and gives us to make us feel guilty and horrible. An example of this would be 'Me and your mother are building you a whole new floor on the house, and im still spoken too like shit. We don't have to do this for you you know.' I have made it very clear im aware he doesn't have to do that I have also made it crystal clear it is his duty to provide a safe home and a roof over our heads because he is our father and he can do that however he chooses. Whenever I mention this and make it clear we didn't ask for this he yells and calls us ungrateful and rude.
Red flag number five.
So the real question: Is my stepdad a walking red flag or am I overthinking this?
